Vans can showcase your lifestyle. From Chrysler Town & Country to Class B Motorhomes, vans have been able to leave their mark on the society. If you own a van, and want to give it a personalized look, here are a few tips you can follow:
You have many options of giving your van a unique look from the outside. Full length wheel flares or running boards can be installed. Other additions that can be made include custom wheels, glass windows and sunroofs. The engine can be modified or replaced.
The important thing to consider when it comes to the exterior is the paint finish. This can make your van stand out from others. There are numerous paint schemes available with drawings and different murals. You may either go for a complete theme idea, or murals and details. Anything can be painted on your van. These murals and themes vary in costs, and the one you pick will depend one your budget.
You can spice up the interior of your van yourself. The available options will depend upon the size of the van. Larger vans have greater space, and allows for more customization. In larger vans, you can install a video game setup. To do this, buy a video game adapter and plug it in the T.V of your van. You can make a PS3, Xbox 360 or any other setup. Some creative design companies give this option for the interior of larger vans. You can also place music instruments such as drums, guitars etc. inside the van. This will give the interior a similar look as the interior in the vans bands tour on.
If you want to customize the interior without your budget taking a toll, here is what you can do:
1. Create curtains
You can create the curtains yourself. First of all, measure the height and length of the rear and side windows. Depending on the measurements, cut and hem the cloth to create curtains. You can also add fullness by making them 1-2 times the width of the window. Next, above the windows, attach adhesive Velcro. The last thing required is the sewing the counterpart of the Velcro depending upon the length of the curtains.
2. Update upholstery furniture
To do this, measure the front dimension of the seats, which is the width and height of the area where you sit. If your van has bench seats, it will require two pieces, the back and the seats, while bucket seats requires three pieces, the headrest, seat and the back. Next, measure the fabric in the measured dimensions with 2 extra-inches on each side. To prevent fraying, hem the fabric about ¼ inches. Hold the fabric pieces in place by attaching the elastic bands. Headrests will require one strip of elastic across the width. On the other hand, you’ll need two elastic strips for bucket seat’s back, one 5 inches from the top, and the other 5 inches from the bottom, and two more for the bottom, one 8 inches from each side. You can adjust measurements depending upon varying seat dimensions.
3. New rugs
Measure spaces for rugs in the interior. You can go for several small rugs. The ones used around the washroom are good to place around the back seats in the back. Runners can be placed in front of bench seats. Measure the floor space and cut the rug to these dimensions. Cut the hole where the seats are and lay the rug.
These are the ways you can customize the exterior and interior of your van on your own.
