Friends and new careers

I have a good friend who recently went back to school to become a male nurse He is so excited!! After his first few classes, he realized he was going to need uniforms and a lab coat for his classes that he had labs in. He wanted something that was stylish, yet durable and comfortable also. He was looking for a place to purchase men’s scrubs and men’s lab coats that were reasonably priced and easily obtained.

He is a very busy person what with a full time job, classes and study time, and needed a place where he could order online and have them shipped directly to him.

I asked around my circle of friends and I directed him to try http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Men/. I told him that I have another male nurse friend who uses this website all the time and recommended it highly. He told me that they have inexpensive uniforms as well as any other supplies and accessories you might need.

I am happy to say that he visited the website and is now a satisfied customer.

Moving In

Last night we rented a big U-Haul truck ad loaded it up with my stuff to take to our new house. We aren’t supposed to get the house until the first of May, but the owner said that since the last people had already moved out and the house was clean and ready, that we could move in a week early if we wanted to. So I can take off work for a couple of days, Owen can help move his stuff in this weekend, and my mom can help me do some of the unpacking and setting up the kitchen.

I was carrying boxes in from the truck when one of our new neighbors stopped by to say hello. He’s a nice guy name Micah. He lives across the street and down a couple of houses – I can barely see his driveway from my house because of the hill. But it was nice of him to stop in and introduce himself. That gives me a good feeling about living here.

Remembering Our Servicemen and Servicewomen

Today is Memorial Day. My dad served our country during the Korean War in the Navy as a Seabee. That meant that he was doing construction for the Navy. That worked out well, because he learned how to be a carpenter, plumber and electrician while working on Navy bases and buildings. Then when he got out, he had a skilled trade.

My dad died from cancer back in the 1980′s, when I was just in my 20′s. I feel cheated out of having a dad as an adult. I loved him so much and I’m so proud of him for having served in the Navy.

Less TV. More Music.

Why do all the rock and roll type of songs suck? I don’t like anything they play on the rock stations anymore.

For some reason, I really like the new country songs. The artists like Randy Houser and Gary Allen are sexy and funny and the kinds of songs that you can just bop along to while driving in traffic.

Snooze Alarm

How many times can you legally hit the snooze alarm? They have laws about everything else in the world. I guess they should make it illegal to hit the snooze alarm more than 3 times. Protect the world form all those lazy people who won’t even get out of bed on time. Send them to jail where they HAVE to get up.

Welcome Back, Walter

For a couple of years I was reading the weekly free newspaper because they ran a somewhat regular column by a local home inspector named Walter Jowers. I really like his writing style and his storytelling skill, and he makes good points about home construction, maintenance and repairs. But then he disappeared from that paper.

Well, by chance I was looking at a different alternative paper and found that his weekly column has found a new home. He will be writing for the City Paper every Thursday, which is extra cool because I can read that online and don’t have to go pick up the actual printed newspaper to read Walter’s columns.

Movie Night Out

Tonight I want to go to the movies. I just found a theater that has dropped their ticket prices to just $1.50 – yes, that just a buck fifty! They have a movie I really want to watch, starring Clint Eastwood. The movie is called Gran Torino. My dad used to have a 1971 orange Gran Torino and he looked a lot like Clint Eastwood, except taller and my Dad’s hair was much darker. So I want to see this movie.
