Computer shopping

Saturday, September 24th, 2011

I need a new computer!!  My old computer, who has been a faithful friend to me for several years now, has finally reached her capacity and I am out of space to expand and update her.  I will be sad to see her go.

I decided to shop online for a computer this time, figuring I might find a good deal.  I decided that, even though laptops and notebooks are the popular thing right now, I wanted to stick to the tried and true desktop computer that I am so comfortable with.  I like the larger keyboards.  I have “fat fingers” quite often and the smaller keyboards of the laptops seem to give me problems.

So, I went shopping online, there are so many websites to choose from!!  I was quite overwhelmed.  But, after several hours of visiting numerous websites, I found exactly what I was looking for, with all the programs loaded for me, so I didn’t have to take the time to buy the software and download it myself.  I will be able to go right to work with it as soon as it arrives.!!!

Puppy love

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

I just got a new 6 week old puppy.  She is sooooo cute!!!  She is a cocker spaniel and I have named her Little Roo.  I now have Poohbear, my adult cocker spaniel, Tigger, my parrot and Little Roo.  I am just missing Eeyore, Piglet and Rabbit to complete my 100 acre woods!!!

She is so adorable, I have never had a puppy this young before and am totally in love with her after one day.  She whines quite often (missing Mommy and her brothers and sisters I am sure), but she is getting better adjusted.  Poohbear, does not particularly care for the new puppy, as she has been queen of the house since I got her in 1997, but she is adjusting slowly.  Pooh will snap at Roo, but has not outright attacked her yet.  But, Pooh is old and not the playful type anymore, so she just has to learn to tolerate Roo.

Earlier today, Roo was playing with her new toys I bought her at Pet Smart.  She particularly loves this little one that looks like a squirrel.   It has no stuffing that she might swallow and a squeaker at the end of the tail.  She will take it in her mouth and shake her little head back and forth and growl.  It is so adorable to watch her play.  She loves to attack newspaper and rip it to shreds too.  She is just full of surprises all the time.

Now, for the potty training……that will take awhile I am sure.

FIRE!!!

Sunday, August 28th, 2011

My cousin, Mary, who lives in Paragould, Arkansas, almost lost her home to a fire the other night.  I received a call from her yesterday and she was telling me all about it.  The family is safe, thank goodness, but the garage is a complete loss.

I asked her who discovered the fire and how it started.  She said that they had friends over for dinner about 6:00 p.m. and all went well.  About 8:00 they had some dessert and coffee and everyone when home.  They went to bed around 10:00, after cleaning up the kitchen.  She said about 2:00 a.m. the smell of smoke woke her up.  She gathered the family and they went downstairs to see where the smoke was coming from.  The garage was engulfed in flames!!!  She had grabbed her cell phone on the way out the door, and was starting to dial 911, when the phone rang.  It was Home Security Paragould calling  to say that there had been a fire detected in their home and asking if they were okay.  She was absolutely amazed and relieved.

She said that she had seen an advertisement, just a couple of months ago, while her husband was watching a game on DirecTV, for this ADT authorized company, selling home security monitoring systems.  Their monitoring system not only monitored for fire, but also for break-ins, floods and even carbon monoxide levels!!!  She said that she thought it was a great product for a great price and that it was well worth the money they spent.  She believes that more now than ever.

lost home (almost)

Monday, August 15th, 2011

I got some bad news from my friend, Kathy, who lives in Austin, Texas last week.  She said that they had a fire in their home, cause by a mishap in the kitchen.  No one was injured, thank goodness, but there was a lot of water and fire damage to their living room, dining room and kitchen area.

Kathy and I go back to our childhood and elementary school.  We have known each other for years and she is like a sister to me.  So, hearing this news understandably upset me very much.  Her children are like my own and I love each an every one of her family as if they were my family.

I asked if they were going to have to move to another house and she replied that they had found a company  that specialized in fire and water damage right there in Austin that could restore their home back to it’s original condition, as if the fire had never happened.   She said that they were going to start this week and she would let me know the outcome.

I asked her how she found them and she said she went online and found them at http://www.thesteamteam.com/ She had never heard of them and said she had read some of the testimonials posted on their website.  She also said that they guarantee their work and will even work with your insurance company.

I hope that everything gets back to normal for her soon and am so glad that no one was injured, not even their pets!!!

Dog Lover

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

I have two of the most adorable dogs you have ever laid your eyes on. One is a Shih Tzu and one is a Yorkie. They are both the most loving and loyal dogs I’ve ever known.

I got each of them as a puppy before they were 3 months old and got them about 5 weeks apart so they have grown up this past year as siblings. They are rambunctious and happy little puppies and they are so glad to see me when I get home from work in the afternoons.

I know I’m paranoid, but I started worrying about someone breaking into my home during the day and what they might do to my wonderful little doggies. To make me feel better, I checked out http://Allhomesecurity.com to get a security system for my home. I certainly wouldn’t call either of my dogs a guard dog and laughingly tell people that the only harm they would cause a burglar would be to lick them to death—lol. I love coming home in the afternoons and seeing their cute little faces at the front window waiting for me. Unconditional love at its best!
