Sometimes I forget that I have relatives that make money as a DJ at private parties and nightclubs, so when Stevie told me that he was going to buy the good edm package ableton at musicians friend I had no idea what he was talking about. “What in the world is EDM?” I asked him. It turns out that “EDM” is “Electronic Dance Music” and the package that Stevie is talking about buying is something that would help him in his DJ career. I still have a hard time “getting over” going to parties and night clubs and not seeing “live bands” playing music on “real instruments.” I guess I’m just old-fashioned that way.
I found a multi-disc set of Christmas music by Manheim Steamroller and I can’t stop listening to it. The music is their arrangement of all the classic and popular Christmas songs that we all know by heart. Their arrangements are very soothing yet upbeat at the same time. I love these songs – can’t get enough of it to keep that Christmas spirit stoked!
I was really quite surprised last night when we were eating dinner at the new restaurant in town. There was a small group of musicians playing in a corner of the room, and I could have sworn that I could hear a drummer playing the drums – but there were no drums anywhere to be seen! When the trio took a short break I sought out the guitar player and asked what they were using to mimic the sound of a drummer. He told me that they were using a cheap drumagog that they had purchased last month. I could not help but feel really bad for all of the professional (and student) drummers in the world. Replacing a musician with a machine makes me very sad.
I want to have some fun pumpkins this year. If I can find a bunch of white ones for a good price, I would like to spend the day Saturday working on them to make a fun decoration for the yard. Like this arrangement I found on the internet:
In case you didn’t already know, today is International Talk Like A Pirate Day.
Other than “Ahoy, Matey!” the only pirate phrase I can think of is: “Yo ho ho – and a bottle of rum!”
Of course, the rum must be accompanied by a splash of lime, some crushed fresh mint and club soda, on ice. Mo-ji-to!
