He takes all the news and breaks it down to a very basic level and makes it entertaining, too. If you don’t understand today’s news, let Uncle Jay explain it to you. Banking Stress

May 26th, 2009 Posted in Business, Economy Issues, Finance, Friends & Relatives | No Comments »

A friend of mine was in a spot and needed to borrow a few dollars. I felt the need to help her out, so I wrote a check for her to take to her bank. I assumed she would deposit my check and write a couple checks from her account to pay the bills. But it turns out that she does not have a bank account and needed to cash the check at my bank so she could buy money orders to pay her bills. Well, that didn’t turn out so good, as there are no local branches of my bank anywhere around where she lives. She had to give me back my uncashed check and just borrow money from a neighbor who had cash in hand.

That’s very frustrating – you would think that in today’s world there would be a better system of making places available to take care of your money matters.

Staffing Cuts

March 6th, 2009 Posted in Business, Economy Issues, Men | No Comments »

All of the convenience stores in the area have had to cut the hours of employees and are down to just one or 2 clerks on duty instead of the usual 3 or 4 at the busy stores. That is a hard job and I’m amazed that the chain owners really expect just 1 or 2 people to do a good job not only running the cash register but keeping the store and restrooms clean, stocking the inventory, making fresh coffee every 20 minutes, and all the other things they have to do.

It’s not fair to the customers, either. We now have long lines to wait at the cash register and lots of times now I see the crowd in the store and just decide to not go buy anything. They are losing business by being cheap and I don’t think anyone is smart enough to see that. they make their profit on sales from inside the store but they have made going inside the store undesirable. Dummies!

I am sure it is men making these types of decisions. They are so stupid about things like customer service and taking care of the people who spend their money in the stores.
