Summer is officially here and so is the heat and humidity that goes with it. It has been around 100% humidity here with temperatures in the upper 80′s to mid 90′s for two weeks now. I can’t stand it. I don’t like extreme cold either, and no matter where I live, I have to put up with one or the other. Of course, in looking at the northern part of the country, the heat and humidity is just as bad up there.
I am just grateful, living in a mountainous areas with many trees, that we don’t have the dry, hot conditions they have out west. I would rather put up with the humidity than the wildfires.
I remember back as I was growing up, the summers weren’t so hot and humid. Maybe that was the case, or maybe I just didn’t notice as much. I used to spend hours playing outdoors in the summer and never noticed how hot it was.

I grew up in Virginia, and lived in Maine for twenty nine years. I recently moved back down to Virginia, and I am finding myself spending more time inside than I used to. I seem to be very heat intolerant, so I am very grateful for air conditioning! I do believe that the summers are hotter now than they used to be, based on what the weathermen claim when they talk about record temperatures. I suspect that global warming really does have a hand in this heat. Please come visit my webpage at http://lindabradshaw.com and leave me a comment too!
