Dentists
I’m not a fan of dentistry and it really sucks because I know that I have a cavity, but I begin to get so uptight when ever I have a scheduled appointment with my dentist. He is a great guy, been going to him forever and a day, his prices are as reasonable as the next guy, and is easy on the eyes, but . . .
I have dental insurance so the cost isn’t a major issue, although co-pays can add up by the end of the year for all the medical issues that I have been facing lately. But I just don’t like someone in my mouth and even thinking about needles and drills going on just creeps me out so very badly.
Maybe I need to tell my Mother about the issue, I know that she will nag me until I get off of it and call and the darn thing taken care of and done with it all. She is good at such things, gotta love her.
Orchid Island is so pretty
When Mom and Dad told me that next month they are planning to go to visit Ms. Mickie in Orchid Island, and then go visit Ms. Jinx in Cape Coral I had some really ambivalent feelings about their plans. On the one hand, I love the fact that they are going to be able to visit her friends; she has not seen them in several years. Mom and Ms. Jinx have been best friends for at least the last sixty years and it broke Mom’s heart when Ms. Jinx sold her house in Fairfax and moved all the way down to Florida. They used to see each other at least once a month, and now they are lucky to see each other once a year. Poor health has prevented them from seeing each other the past couple of years, and I know how much they miss each other.
It breaks my heart to think of my Mom, and Ms. Jinx, getting so old. I know that the time is soon approaching when they won’t be available to talk to by picking up the telephone, or to just drive over to Mom’s house and see her and visit for a few hours, or to spend the night. Ms. Jinx is older than my mother, and I suspect that with her failing health that she might not be on this earth much longer. It breaks my heart to think of how forlorn my mother will be when she is gone, and I wonder how I will be able to console her.
I haven’t seen Ms. Jinx myself for several years, and I told Mom that I’d like to go with them. I think they thought I was joking, but I wasn’t. I just can’t get away during the time frame they are planning to go. I wish they’d wait a couple of weeks, but they are adamant about their time frame.
Responsible Drinking
About the only I drink these days is vodka or an occasional glass of wine. Vodka goes with or in just about anything, so it is a good all-around alcohol. But we don’t drink very often. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I had a drink other than a glass of wine at an Italian restaurant a couple of months ago.
Luckily I have never had a drinking problem nor been around anyone with a drinking problem, other than 1 boss that was a single guy and very socially active on the DC bar scene. He drank about every night and would come into work hung over. I think just seeing his pitiful self every day was enough to keep me away from too much alcohol.
Bahamas real estate
One place that I have never been to and probably never will ever be able to go, for a variety of reasons, is the Bahamas. I always dreamed that when I got married that we would honeymoon on one of the many islands of the Bahamas, but that didn’t ever pan out the way I wanted it at all. Most of my ideas and opinions never stood a chance for that whole ordeal, but that is another story for another time.
I know several people who have had the opportunity to travel at one of the most romantic and beautiful places in the world known as the Bahamas. They always come back with a smile on their faces, good stories to tell and a ton of pictures to share with anyone that cares to show an interest. One couple was so pleased with their trip that they are now seriously taking a look at buying some Bahamas real estate and relocating permanently down there. Now that is just too cool.
If they really move down there it would provide me with a great excuse to actually take the trip of my dreams. I would have friends that I know down there that could hopefully provide me with a place to stay. If not at least give me a good recommendation to decent lodging for the time being spent there. It certainly would make me feel safer knowing someone in the area whether they have time or the need to spend time with me.
